When I ask you, “would you ever do a boudoir session?” what are the thoughts that run through your head?
“I’m ashamed of my skin.”
“I don’t have a really nice butt. I should hit the gym first.”
“I’ll put myself on a diet, and when I hit the goal, I will book it.”
“I don’t know how to make sexy faces.”
“The camera and I do not get along.”
“I am unphotogenic.”
“Wouldn’t that make me full of myself?”
“Maybe after I get a tummy tuck.”
“I have no one to take them for.”
These thoughts are natural to have. We are conditioned to think we aren’t good enough to be documented in a world full of perfect, photoshopped Goddesses. Society has told us to stay humble. Modesty and asking for compliments has been our program that was put in our brains for decades.
Some of us used to feel confident and worthy of being seen.
Some of us have never felt that freedom.
The wounds in our souls that tell us these lies run deeply. They start as a tiny seed and begin to grow the more we take in the media constantly bombarded us. Add in things that people have said to us that we can’t seem to let go of because the pain still feels like the words were spoken to us yesterday.
This beautiful woman in the following photographs felt so many things that you are feeling. Miss R showed up so nervous for her session. As an empath, I could feel the nervous energy and made it my goal to feel confident even before she stepped into the photography shooting space. With the help of my makeup artist Esperansa, we were able to get her from nervous to excited by the time she was done with her skincare and beauty treatment.
Like most of my clients, who are mamas, she wondered if she still had that sensual fire after all these years and raising some incredible kids. Life has really been tough on her the last few years… and she wondered, “do I still have it?”
The proof of healing that took place during this session is in the images. Miss R let go and trusted that I would guide her to reveal her genuine, confident, sensual, feminine essence to me to create these beautiful photographs. Her photoshoot not only gave the striking images that remind her of how beautiful the world sees her, but it proved to her that she, in fact, still had that fire in her.
